Angler’s Delight Journey to Anguilla

Anguilla is famous for its bounty of pristine beaches and its endless opportunities for excitement and adventure—including scoring an incredible, once in a lifetime fishing haul, whether you fish leisurely from the shore or charter a boat on a deep sea fishing expedition. Here’s our day to day guide to a fishing vacation on Anguilla!

Day 1: Fish from the Shore

After you pick up your fishing permit, you can really fish just about anywhere along the shore, with the exception of Anguilla’s seven marine parks. Be careful and avoid beachgoers while fishing from the beach or the rocks; the secluded spots on the island offer the best fishing anyway, including species like lady fish and snook.

Day 2: Fly Fishing

Get some fly fishing supplies from a local fishing shop (or bring your own) and ask a local to point you towards their favorite fly fishing spot (usually far away from beachgoers). Common species caught with fly fishing include snook, lady fish, and more.

Day 3: Beginner’s Charter Fishing

Anguilla offers a variety of charter fishing experiences. If you’re just starting out or are traveling with young children, Junior’s Glass Bottom Boat is a great charter to use. Their boat also has a cool floor you can see through so you can watch the fish beneath you.

Day 4: Cheap Seafood at Blanchard’s Beach Shack

Give yourself a breather from all that fishing with an inexpensive but delicious bite to eat at Blanchard’s Beach Shack, located in a picturesque setting along Meads Bay. Try the fish tacos or one of the big bowls with mahi mahi.

Day 5: Bottom Fishing

Bottom fishing is a fantastic way to prepare yourself for deep sea fishing. Large groups and groups with children less than 12 years old will find this family friendly fishing technique relaxing and fun. Use a charter like Scuba Shack, which will take you into calm waters where you can fish off the boat for snapper, grouper, trigger fish, and more.

Day 6: Deep Sea Fishing

Anguilla is well known for its deep sea fishing, especially in areas like Blowing Point Harbour, Sandy Ground, and Shoal Bay. Shoal Bay Scuba & Fishing, Gotcha Garfield’s, and Nature Boy are deep sea charters that can help you catch king mackerel, wahoo, mahi mahi, and other species.

Day 7: Anguillan Lobster on Sandy Island

Wrap up your fishing vacation with a divine taste of Anguillan lobster, freshly prepared on the small island of Sandy Island just offshore. Take a water taxi to the island and finish your vacation on a high note!
